Danny Dance - Miami, US
Name: Danny Dance
Location: Miami, USA
Occupation: House Music Artist
I’m a young Miami-based producer, DJ and House Dancer. I recently moved back from Miami after three years out west, where I discovered a thriving underground House scene in Salt Lake City. Now I'm trying to tell my own story through the dancing and the music (my debut 4-track EP, Here For The Dancefloor, is due in a few weeks on 1200 Traxx) and having a blast doing so!
What’s your Strictly Rhythm?
Ben Westbeech's recent but instant classic Falling (Deetron Paradise Vocal Remix). It's a seminal cultural work headed straight for House Music's history books.
International DJ Scene:
Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Week obviously bring in an enormous international presence for underground and commercial House. Dennis Ferrer, Louie Vega, and Jellybean Benitez are Miami regulars, and fan favorites like Boddhi Satva and Julius the Mad Thinker stop by occasionally.
I've recently supported several old school and new school cuts in my Danny Dance Radio show and on my blog, and for good reason - they're absolute musical gems:
Da Coconut Hut Club – A Latin Rave (Jammin On Lex Mix)
Buddah Khan – O.K. Alright (Tedd Patterson Re-Edit)
Ben Westbeech – Falling (Deetron Paradise Vocal Mix)
Sandy Rivera and Yasmeen – Love (Original Mix)
Kenny Dope & Terry Hunter Present Mass Destruction – Organ Track
Danny Freakazoid & Matt Caseli – No Matter What (Original)
Danny Clark & Jay Benham feat. SuSu Bobien – Wondrous (MuthaFunkaz Remix)
DJ Chus & Supernova – Carnavalesco (Original InStereo Mix)
Ultra Nate - Free (Teomoss Daniel Shems Remix)!
Clubs: Miami's clubs range from the trendy (Club 50 @ The Viceroy, Nocturnal's Eden Terrace, Mekka, and Mokai on South Beach) to the underground (Kill Your Idol, The Vagabond), and some in-between gems (like the never-disappointing Clevelander). Kill Your Idol has the most authentically underground feel of any club I've been to here, and balances an ideal location and size (a deliciously intimate venue on South Beach) with a dope party atmosphere. The Vagabond, on the other hand, has South Florida's best sound system for Deep, Latin and Tribal House. The venue has a Funktion-One system and the crowd is a little more glamorous than KYI's, but just as friendly, and also there to dance.
DJ’s: During the year's post-WMC months, options for Latin, Deep, Soulful, Tribal, and Funky House are more limited than you'd expect in a city of almost six million people, but local House DJs like DJ Peace, Man-X, Aladdin, Stell*R, Soul P, Richard Vasquez, Don Diego, Shade, Wasabi, and many others do great work for the community and keep underground House culture brewing, something I hope to experience even more of and continue to help fuel.
