Steve Bray - Koh Samui,Thailand

Name: Steve Bray

Occupation: DJ / Percussionist / Promoter

Online: Website

I DJ / play percussion around the islands including Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Phuket and the mainland. Occasionally I’ll put on my own party - The Movement Party - which, as its name suggests, moves to various venues across Thailand.

I first started out in Bournemouth 1997 promoting a monthly party called Maison with the co-founder Cliff Lay and in 1995 opted for a staple diet of coconut and rice so moved to the island of Koh Samui.

Ben Westbeach ‘Something For The Weekend’ (Joey Negro Z mix)

Great vocals with a fantastic rolling dis-chord to underpin the track which gives it light and shade

Geoff M, The Ridiculously Good Looking Guys ‘You Better feat’ Dawn Tallman David Penn Remix

Another good vocal and heavily charged with bags of energy. Absolutely rocked the beach at the full moon party (more on that later).

Top tracks from Moov in Koh Tao – DJ Absolud

International DJ Scene

Over the summer we’ve had Steve Mac, Funk D’Void and The Shapeshifters coming through to play Samui’s new but temporary venue for the Black Moon Party at Plai Laem beach as well as Moov in Koh Tao. Also Seb Fontaine and Brandon Block playing their usual gigs at Nikki Beach and Sound Club.

My scene

Just finished a very successful first season at The Saturday Social here on Koh Samui with The annual Aussie Invasion as well as Parrish Wintersmith (former Groove Junkies). More news on this nearer the festive period.

I’ve just taken up a new monthly residency at the legendary Full Moon Party (The Rock), Koh Phangan. Still reputed to be the largest monthly party in the world. It’s a full stage show with 2 drummers, saxophone, DJ and 4 fire spinners.

The full Moon Party in recent years has unfortunately, with a few exceptions gone largely commercial. There are a number of sound systems over a large stretch of beach so there’s lots to choose from. It’s great to see that people are picking up on an underground vibe once more and with between 10 to 30,000 people it’s an explosive atmosphere.
