Roland Clark, house music’s answer to Smokey Robinson, struck out big in the early 90’s as Urban Soul with ‘Alright’, but many regard this enduring club anthem from 1994 as his best ever recording. A superb vocal performance and unusually good lyrics for a dance track are backed by a strings and horns driven production that wasn’t quite like anything else at the time.As a nod to the record’s crossover success in the Low Countries, recent Strictly Rhythm stars Daniel Bovie and Roy Rox are tasked with remix duties and the pair show their consummate skill with vocals by keeping song and structure intact and adding atmosphere with new strings and keys.
