It’s a story that’s been told a thousand times.  Newly arrived in the Big Apple from the wreckage that was the Chicago house music industry in 1990, DJ Pierre had in his pocket a cassette containing a brand new production that featured a brand new sound. Figuring Tony Humphries as the man who can, he made sure the city’s biggest DJ got a copy.  Soon enough, word of the big man’s support came to the attention of Strictly Rhythm who snapped up the track and The Wild Pitch sound was born.  Jimpster and Soul Avengerz are only the latest producers to load up parts of Generate Power; rarely, for a track that became a song, Paula Brion’s vocal mix is a landmark in itself thanks to the efforts of a thousand sample happy producers since.  But clearly unfazed by the history, Jimpster transforms the abrasive Wild Pitch epic to a delicious deep house cruiser while Soul Avengerz have fun working the vocals and guitar snip over a tough big room groove.
